REWIRE Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Vienna
Rebecca Kahn is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of History at the University of Vienna. She completed her Ph.D. in Digital Humanities at King’s College London in 2017, focusing on the process of digitization in museums and archives with a special focus on the British Museum. In April 2020, Kahn began a three-year project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 847693. In this project, Kahn examines the data models used to manage digitized museum collections and their records and asks whether these models are adequate tools for representing complex objects with deep, often troubled histories and object biographies. Before beginning this project, Kahn was a researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in Berlin between 2017 and 2019. There, she worked on a project called Pelagios – an international collaborative project which used Linked Open Geodata to connect digitized historical sources through their shared references to places in the ancient world.
